The machining center of CNC machine tools
The first machining center was first developed by Carney Trek Company in the United States in 1958. It adds an automatic tool changing device on the basis of a CNC horizontal boring and milling machine, thereby achieving centralized processing of multiple processes such as milling, drilling, boring, reaming, and tapping after the workpiece is clamped in one go. A machining center is a highly automated multifunctional CNC machine tool with a tool library and an automatic tool changing device. After being clamped once on the machining center, the workpiece can complete multiple processes on two or more surfaces, and has multiple tool changing or selection functions, greatly improving production efficiency.
Machining centers are divided into two categories based on their machining processes: boring and milling, and turning. They can be divided into three axis, four axis, and five axis machining centers based on the number of control axes.
