How Are CNC Machining Centers Classified?

Jul 08, 2021Leave a message

There are six classification methods for machining centers. The first is to classify according to the relative position of the spindle and the worktable according to the structure; the second is to classify according to the number of control axes; the third is to classify according to the processing procedure; the fourth is It is classified according to the number of workbenches; the fifth type is classified according to the tool change mode of the tool magazine of the machining center; the sixth type is classified according to the machining accuracy of the machining center.

1. Classification according to the relative position of the spindle and the worktable

Machining centers can be divided into four types according to the relative position of the spindle and the worktable, which are vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, gantry machining centers, and composite machining centers.

2. Classification according to the number of control axes

Machining centers can be divided into multiple categories according to the number of control axes, including three-axis machining centers, four-axis machining centers, five-axis machining centers, six-axis machining centers, and so on, as well as other multi-axis machining centers.

3. Classification according to processing procedures

Machining centers are classified according to processing procedures and can be divided into two categories, namely boring and milling and turning and milling.

4. Classification according to the number of workbenches

Machining centers can be divided into three types according to the number of workbenches, namely, single workbench machining centers, double workbench machining centers, and multiple workbench machining centers.

5. Classification according to the tool change method of the tool magazine

Machining centers can be classified into two types according to the tool change mode of the tool magazine, namely, the two types of machining centers, namely the manipulator tool change machining center and the robotless tool change machining center.

6. Classification according to processing accuracy

According to the machining accuracy of the machining center, it can be divided into three categories, namely, ordinary precision machining center, high-precision machining center and precision machining. Among them, ordinary precision machining center: resolution is 1μm, maximum feed speed is 15-25m/min, positioning accuracy is about 10μm. High-precision machining center: The resolution is 0.1μm, the maximum feed speed is 15~100m/min, and the positioning accuracy is about 2μm. The ones between 2~10μm are more than ±5μm, which can be called precision machining centers.
